About New Dragon Buffet
Located at 551 S 8th St, West Dundee, IL 60118, New Dragon Buffet operates as a chinese buffet serving West Dundee in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach New Dragon Buffet at (847) 766-0196; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, newdragonbuffet0196.com.
Its Google rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 493 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
West Dundee is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and West Dundee follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This place is delish. I am always a little scared of buffets but this place has a pretty good selection of food and they rotate it pretty often. My only issue is I wish the sushi looked fresher. Every time I go up for it it just comes across as dry looking.

Have dined here 30+ times since they opened their new location in West Dundee. My wife and I enjoy the wide variety of food found in the buffet and the sushi station and Hibachi grill add to the value proposition. Staff is very friendly and polite. The dining room staff is always prompt with drink refills and table clearing. I would have given the food portion of the review a 5, but recently, we have noticed some key menu items not being available or fresh during both peak and off-peak hours alike. We have also noticed a recent change to both their sweet and sour sauce and Lo Mein noodle sauce - please bring back the old sweet and sour sauce. The new S&S sauce is not very good at all - in fact, I find it almost inedible. Overall a very clean, large facility offering good value and a nice atmosphere. The owners have done a very nice job with the transition to the new building. We strongly recommend the New Dragon Buffet.

I’d say the 3.8 reviews rating is more than generous. Went here with my family of 5 yesterday in spite of the reviews. Never returning. The sushi tasted like there was some type of chemical coating. Almost threw up eating it. 2/5 of us got food poisoning. On the toilet at night and throwing up this morning. The seafood looks unsafe to eat. Not terribly clean. The soft drinks were never refilled and tasted of old tap water. This place has a lot of people who don’t mind to eat trash food going to it. I’m staying away

They have a new location. I have visited a few times and the food is good, very nice seating and set up. So friendly! I hope it stays this way because I like everything they offer to eat. Can't wait to come back! Old Review from when they were in Spring Hill Mall: Well we didn't see any roaches or hair in our food BUT the food was cold, floors are very sticky, the girl at the front was sweet but the other ladies gave so many dirty looks & spoke in their language about you. You can tell because they point. Anyway never again. A waste of 35 bucks for two. Blah
